my heart journal ~ for September and October

Heart Journal 2012

..for September heart challenge we were to create a heart of newsprint that was 'all cottony'  .. light and fluffy ..   I covered my cottony heart with a piece of  very old paper , precious to me ... which is the reason I used it for my heart.
..for October heart challenge we were to achieve a wax finish ..I used liquid pearls, Golden Interference Orange and black shoe polish to buff, my heart has the appearance of pewter
Every month I am inspired to learn something new .. so much thanks to Thealie and Lilibulle for these wonderful challenges! Although I am posting late, I have taken my time to enjoy the process of creating these hearts.

Victorian Collage

Although I haven't been posting, I have been enjoying visiting blogs .. not really enough time to leave many comments though. I created this collage using rubber stamps for a charity event at work. The Victorian ladies are from Free Vintage Images and the red flower is from Little Birdie Blessings .

Thanks so much for visiting.  Wishing you a wonderful and safe weekend.

For July we were to create a heart using transparancies. For August we were to create a minimalist landscape background.  So lovely to see my landscape through my transparent heart.
Thank you again Thealie and Lilibulle for this wonderful journey

Papillon

.. a little poem from William Wordsworth

Oh! pleasant, pleasant were the days,
The time, when in our childish plays
My sister Emmeline and I
Together chaced the Butterfly!
A very hunter did I rush
Upon the prey:—with leaps and springs
I follow'd on from brake to bush;
But She, God love her! feared to brush
The dust from off its wings.

The butterfly and old letter writing in the background are from Hero Arts.  The flower in the cloche is from a very old garden journal that I found in a second hand shop.

Enjoy your weekend and keep safe.

... years become forever

Heart Journal 2012

http://artjournal2012.blogspot.ca/

... years become forever .. for the month of June our project was to use thin objects in gesso, sanding the object to bring them to the surface like fossils.  I had some difficulty with this month's project but I am pleased with the outcome .. I think that it has the feeling of sensitivity that I was hoping to acheive .. but you're better able to judge.
Thank you Lilibulle and Thealie for your these wonderful tutorials and for all of your inspiration.
Thank you for visiting. Wishing you a wonderful and safe week.

... if only time would stand still

Heart Journal 2012

..if only time would stand still ...  For the month of May, our project was to create a heart using aluminum foil, gesso and acrylic paints. I embossed the foil, painted on gesso then polished to reveal the relief of the paisley pattern. I splashed on layers of alcohol inks 'here and there' and embellished with a small amount of stickles.

Thank you Thealie and Libellule for this wonderful challenge. It's so nice to see our Heart Journal grow as the months go by . My apologies again as I was a little late submitting this.

I'm looking forward to starting our next challange for June!

Thanks so much for visiting.

Dance by the Light of the Moon ~ Inspired by Jacqueline

I was asked to make another card that would hold over 110 signatures for a co-worker who is retiring. I wanted to make something a little different from the accordian book I made last time .. I was so inspired by Jacqueline's beautiful 'home decor' artwork that I created this card holding many pages for signatures, put together using the Japanese stab binding technique. Other pages can be viewed on my flicker photostream. Thanks for the inspiration Jacqueline! Thank you everyone for viewing :)

love letter

.. the background of this love letter was stamped with Hero Arts La Letter K5344. A piece of twine ties the small floral heart to the aqua coloured embossed paper securing the two parts of the card together. The embossed page of the card actually opens up, as well, giving three pages for letter writing (the first page being only 3/4 of the size).  The beautiful floral heart and embossed paper are both from Franziska :)

Thanks so much for visiting. Wishing you a wonderful day.

... moments like this

Heart Journal 2012

moments like this:  For the month of April our project was to create a heart using a mixture of gesso and baking soda, spreading the mixture on our heart and heating with a heating tool. The heat causes the mixture to rise and form a skin. I used my Hero Arts stamp Floral Brocade to make an impression. I was a little nervous before starting this project as I was unsure of how successful I would be. At one point my image flattened ... so I tried to use heat again .. and to my surprise .. the skin swelled up again : ) .. then I really started to enjoy what I was doing.  I lightly sanded the image to polish it up a bit. It reminded me of making plaster reliefs ..  it looked a little like plaster ..  however after glazing with several ... well .. many coats of matt medium and teal coloured spritzer, the heart took on the texture of soft leather. This was so much fun! Thank you  Lilibulle! I am looking forward to May!

Thanks so much for visiting. Wishing you a safe and happy weekend.

hello again

Just saying hello again with another little card. The background patterned paper was custom made with HERO ARTS Classic Fabric Design CG245. I love this idea and inspiration that came from Jacqueline  :)

Thank you for not forgetting about me after such a long while :)

...still remember that spring and fragments of a heart

Heart Journal 2012

Fragments of a Heart: For the month of February our project was to do a piece of art and to stamp a background with air drying clay. Due to my hours of work I'm a little bit late in submitting this for February.
Still Remembering that Spring: For this month of March our project is to use stamped Utee on a collaged paper base for more relief. Since I didn't have Utee, I used several layers of heated embossing powder.
I'm loving this creative process of our Heart Journal so much. Thank you Thealie  and Lilibulle :)

Thank you for visiting. I hope you are all well. Wishing you a safe and happy week.

.. my little book

... just sharing some photos of an accordian card (or little book) that I made for a dear co-worker who is retiring.   I needed to make a card that could hold well over 100 signatures.  I was lost for ideas until I requested some help from the Hero Arts Flickr group and received many many wonderful suggestions which resulted in this little book .. and I thank everyone very much.

Thank you for visiting. Have a nice week!

Wishing you a safe weekend. We're expecting a storm with about 6 inches of snow ... wonderful for skiing ... if you ski ... but the roads can be treacherous ... please be ever so careful.

I can still remember ...

I am participating in the Heart Journal 2012 blog challenge ... creating 12 hearts for 12 months using different techniques.  This month's technique is to use painter's tape for texture and wire to embellish.  I am enjoying this challenge very much and looking forward to the next 11 hearts.

Thanks so much for visiting.

You Mean So Much to Me

You mean so much to me ... this is more of a masculine/romantic card using the map design paper from Tim Holts, a torn page from an old book and Hero Arts stamps.

MOXIE FAB WORLD
* I've entered this card in  MOXIE FAB WORLD'S  The Map to Your Heart Challenge. I hope that you will join in on the fun *

We have more snow here and it's been bitter cold and windy ... it might mean another weekend of crafting  ;)

Enjoy your day and keep safe.

to love and be loved

The little fox was cut from a photograph. He is one of the five babies that were living in the fox den behind our home last year.  He had just come out of the den and raised his nose for a breath of air when I was fortunate enough to take his picture.  The family wasn't too bothered by me and at times ignored me.

... just sharing

Keep safe and a have a great day!

... you've captured my heart

I so appreciate your visit. Enjoy your day and keep safe.
