... moments like this

Heart Journal 2012

moments like this:  For the month of April our project was to create a heart using a mixture of gesso and baking soda, spreading the mixture on our heart and heating with a heating tool. The heat causes the mixture to rise and form a skin. I used my Hero Arts stamp Floral Brocade to make an impression. I was a little nervous before starting this project as I was unsure of how successful I would be. At one point my image flattened ... so I tried to use heat again .. and to my surprise .. the skin swelled up again : ) .. then I really started to enjoy what I was doing.  I lightly sanded the image to polish it up a bit. It reminded me of making plaster reliefs ..  it looked a little like plaster ..  however after glazing with several ... well .. many coats of matt medium and teal coloured spritzer, the heart took on the texture of soft leather. This was so much fun! Thank you  Lilibulle! I am looking forward to May!

Thanks so much for visiting. Wishing you a safe and happy weekend.
